It's no secret that I love sharing things that make life easier, and better ourselves to be happier, healthier humans. So here are a few of my favorite things at the moment😍-
* I am not affiliated with any of these companies, they just happen to be things I own and enjoy. For Meditation- Insight Timer-It's no surprise, as a teacher on this app, I LOVE Insight Timer! Not only can you find my meditations, but it has so many other different instructors. It truly is a wonderful app, and the best part is, it's FREE! Whether you have 1 min or 1 hour (or longer) there is a meditation here for everyone, and every situation. I hope you find it as enjoyable as I do. 7 chakras incense sticks- Somewhere in the time of BC (before Corona) I picked these up at 5 Below. They are perfect because A- I light about 3 sticks a day, no lie, it's kinda my thing (much to the non amusement of my husband) and B- the variety is amazing. My favorite so far is the Root Chakra/ Cedar scent, it truly makes me feel grounded and centered. Salt lamps!- Do they detox a room, release negative ions, clear bad energy, and chase evil spirits away? Studies are still out on that one (well maybe not in the case of chasing away evil spirits....they 100% do that. 😂😂😂), however, they WILL create a fantastic Hygge style ambiance that will set the mood for relaxation. In other words, they look pretty darn purty, and make you feel warm and fuzzy. For Massage- Foam rollers- Remember that trip to 5 Below I wrote about? I picked up this little beauty from there as well. Hot tip though- you don't need to spend even that much on one. A tube sock + 3/5 tennis balls will work mighty fine. Anytime you feel tension between your shoulder blades, or really ANYWHERE, pop a foam roller under you and relax on it for a few minutes. It feels FABULOUS, and is wonderful for myofascial release! Golf Balls- Yes, golf balls! Similar to a foam roller, you can use these for your feet. Biofreeze- If you have ever been to a Chiropractor you know what I am talking about with this one. Kinda like Ben- Gay this stuff has a cult like following that people swear by, and now anyone can get at Wal-Mart. Win-win! You may want to try a small bottle first, I feel like this is a love it or hate it kinda thing. The line is drawn down the middle in my family, but I love to keep on hand for just in case aches and pains. For yoga- Tea Tree Oil- This stuff is amazing. You know that line in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" about just putting some Windex on it, this is me....but with TTO. 😂😍 I know it seems a little...much...but it is one thing I swear by. I wipe down my yoga mat daily with this to keep it fresh, clean, and hygienic. Asana Rebel- I stumbled on this nifty little app a few years ago and still use it! They have a paid version, but the free is lovely as well. It is a very active practice movement, and I wouldn't recommend it to beginners. That being said, if you are looking for something different give it a try! It is more than just a yoga app, offering music, recipes, and wellness tips as well. Extra fun freebie bonuses- I've been keeping myself learning and growing during this quarantine by filling my time with enlightening TV like Gaia TV. From cooking, to yoga, to documentaries, to just plain odd and unusual TV, they have a little bit of everything woo-woo at a reasonable price. I've also been gardening since moving to our little homestead. I love the Baker Creek seed company and all of my plants this year have been started from seeds and bought from there. They use heirloom and heritage seeds that you won't find at any big box store. We are still waiting for the "fruits of our labor" but so far, so good. I think we are most excited about the giant pumpkins, and "fancy French melons" What new things have you found during quarantine? Let me know in the comments!

When I tell people I am a trained hypnotist I tend to get a lot of reactions.
The first type thinks I can bring out a pocket watch, tell them " you are getting very sleepy" and then make them dance like a monkey. (Ya, for what it's worth, I can't do that.) The second is what I like to call the hairy eyeball look…..as if hypnosis is some weird woowoo thing with no evidence or proof. The thing is, there is actually a lot of evidence that shows the benefits of hypnosis on simple everyday problems (I'm looking at you insomnia)....but I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's start at the beginning….what exactly is hypnosis? The simple answer is that hypnosis is when you allow yourself to go into a trance. Now before you completely write this off, understand that people go into trances several times a day. A trance is nothing more than letting your unconscious mind take over. Ever sit in a classroom, space out, and remember something important? Trance. When you sit and daydream and doodle? Trance. Mindlessly watching TV, drift off, and think about something else? Yep, you guessed it, that's a trance . Anytime you let your mind wander, and let your brain waves slow down , you are entering what Milton Erickson deemed a trance, and that my dears is where the magic happens. In this state you allow your subconscious to come through, and through this can guide yourself into healing, realizations, and yes, deeper sleep. Erickson believed that the use of stories could help guide people into this trance like state easily which is why guided meditations can work so beautifully. Still not a believer? Let's look at a few studies Here - "The women in the highly suggestible group slept 67% more and saw their deep sleep rise roughly 80%" https://www.webmd.com/sleep-disorders/news/20140619/hypnosis-may-help-improve-deep-sleep "Overall, 58.3% of the included studies reported hypnosis benefit on sleep outcomes" https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5786848/ I don't know about you but if all it takes is to listen to an audio before bed for better sleep, it sounds like a win win. The research is out there, and with little more investment than a pair of ear buds, you could be on your way to a deeper, more restful sleep. If you would like to try it out, I offer free, guided sleep meditations here. A trip to the ocean Let me know what you think! And if you would like a personalized consultation on how hypnosis could help you with sleep and other issues, feel free to contact me. |
